WTF? I am at a loss understanding how that happened on a paved road, and a straight, level paved road at that.

Yeah but they don't want to work. And we've enabled people to not work if they don't have to. Heck, during covid we paid people MORE to stay home than to go back to work.
Honestly, it's kinda hard to blame them. We pay people to do the things we want done. Offer to pay me more to quit my job than I make working and I'd STRONGLY consider it. I've got PLENTY of other things to do with my time.
Look, if you've got enough resources that you don't need to work, good for you. But I don't think government should be taking money from people who need to work and giving it to people who can work but choose not to.
People get used to their way of life, and significant life changes are stressful. Some handle it better than others. But change is needed.
Societies prosper when everybody is encouraged to produce and contribute as much as they can.
It's back to my favorite subject... Risk. Risk is what drives everything... innovation, growth, prosperity, excellence, wealth and so on... You won't find any of those things if you remove risk. The "safety and security" generations believe they deserve to live risk free because those who risked much prospered and have experienced all of those things.
