To me, the most surprising takeaway from that is those trains appear to be 100% driver operated with no built-in safety overrides. Big locomotive engines have "alerters" that will shut the train down if an operator doesn't respond within a set time frame. They can also slow or shut down a locomotive engine automatically if certain speed parameters are exceeded. I'm surprised those street cars don't have those basic systems in play.

I'm shocked this isn't completely automated ... We have self driving cars, but we cant get self driving train that only goes one direction???
