I dunno - I have no problem with, and can appreciate, the idea behind it. I think its mainly from my childhood when we would have this huge meal that was a BFD, and I was too young to understand it all. Couple that with that I don't really care for the food, equals - "Not my favorite holiday." I like Xmas mo' bettah! I like yams better than sweet potatoes, but they are very similar - I'm fine with either.

This year will be the first in a few when we're all going out for Thanksgiving instead of eating at home. I'm ALWAYS in favor of eating out for that holiday - I can have something I actually like! I recollect one year my wife and I wore matching skirts to the restaurant!

I banned cooking a whole turkey at my house a few years ago after realizing the turkey no matter how you make it is a flavorless bird that we do everything we can to make it taste good. Last week the hotel I was at served turkey sausage one day, also flavorless garbage.

Don't get me wrong the first few bites, of a properly prepared turkey, can be good and you can brine the hell out of one to soak in more flavor but eventually you realize you are eating trash.

We had everyone together over the weekend and had a twice smoked ham with all the fixings. For the actual holiday we have a smaller group so we are boiling crab legs.

I banned cooking a whole turkey at my house a few years ago after realizing the turkey no matter how you make it is a flavorless bird that we do everything we can to make it taste good.

We gave up on turkey too. Now we just do bbq (pit cooked pork shoulders). When is the last time you had some wild turkey, and not the drink? Every now and then someone will give me a turkey they shot. It always taste mo' better than the garbage sold in a store.

Last year we smoked a brisket for Thanksgiving.

Interesting thought. It’s been a while since I’ve had one. Should have shot one yesterday when I took this picture. There were about 25 of them walking/running through my neighbors yard.
