I'm not so sure about that, I'd be willing to bet kids like the one in that video put a higher priority on that game console than they do a phone. While I didn't see it first hand I got to hear all about it from the dad. A co-worker's teen son (15) went from a slightly above average student (grade wise) to barely passing most classes and failing 1, which was totally out of character for him. That was about 4 months after he bought himself a new game console he'd been saving up for and started playing one of the online games. I'm not sure which one because it wasn't my business to ask but something like Call of Duty. At any rate, dad said enough is enough, until the grades come back up, the game goes in the gun safe, and they changed the combination so the kid couldn't get to it. The kid went ballistic, braking things in his room slamming doors, screaming, and then he was dumb enough to call the sheriff's department thinking he could convice them his parents "stole" his game from him. Well, a deputy went to their house because of how out of control the kid was sounding on the phone. The sheriff deputy "convinced" the kid to calm down after telling him it was the parent's right to take it (even though he bought it with his own money) and that if he didn't tone it down it was also within the parent's rights to have him arrested. The kid didn't get his game back until after the end of the school year and some strict ground rules for when and how long he got to play for were established.

Yea, they might be. My gaming experience began with games on the TRS-80, and ended with the original NES. I'll still play "Galaxy Invasion" on a TRS-80 emulator once in a while - crude graphics but very playable!
Ahh yes, the good old Trash 80s, a Radio Shack original!! I remember hating those things in school. I liked our Commodore Vic 20 and 64 much better. My brother eventually got himself a Commodor 128.
The commentary at the beginning of the video says the mom canceled his World of Warcraft account. That isn't a console game. He probably plays it on a gaming computer. It's a huge multiplayer online game. He probably had years of time invested in his game character. Her cancelation made it all go poof forever. He will be better without it. It's highly addictive. (Marrage counselor said I can't play it anymore.)
