Very interesting! Formica is also made of resin soaked craft paper. We just moved out of a 75 year old house that had Formica counter tops in the kitchen and they were as good as new. Two electrical engineers were searching for a substitute 'for mica' to use as electrical insulators. Hence, Formica was born! After several years of manufacturing low cost, reliable, and available alternatives to mica for insulators, they diverged into interior furnishings and their products were a huge hit, being used in railroad cars, ocean liners, and kitchens around the world. Use as fuel tanks was not mentioned. I'll bet they would make good stealth tanks, though.
