Anybody up for a random meme dump?

Exactly, I don’t see what the obsession about cursive is? Exactly what does it add to…well, anything?
Back in the 1900s when I was in engineering graphics 101 we spent weeks learning how to print properly.
I can still print very neatly if I put my mind to it. Cursive has always been the bane of my existence - I learned how to type the summer between 4th and 5th grade and never looked back. I always got Ds in penmanship, my parents even made me practice every damn day between 5th and 6th grades, which did exactly nothing to improve the mess. Most likely because I didn't see the point in it, so why bother?

why cursive? it doesn't require a computer, notepad, or phooone. you don't need batteries, bluetooth or wifi. it is much faster than printing.
when i was 8 or 9, Sr. Mary Applesauce told me that my brain controlled my hand and to use my brain! she reinforced this directive as required. Also, cursive is like mature people code; no one else can read it.

Printing doesn't take a computer or a PHOOOOOONNE either - nor does typing for that matter. I've heard all my life how cursive is "faster" than printing. Not really - or at least not really with me. It doesn't matter what speed I write cursive at, its still illegible - as is most people's. At least I can print something someone else can read - granted, if I print fast, its a horrid mess just like my cursive is, but its still more legible albeit not by much. If I slow down, I can print quite well, in both English and Greek - my cursive is horrid regardless!

With all that said, I much prefer to type over any hand cribbing of any sort. I get really pissed off at doctor's offices who want me to "update" things by hand cribbing the same crap as what they already have. Either set me in front of a computer - like my dentist does, thank Goddess - or give me a printout of what you have and I'll red line it. I'm *NOT* going to hand crib it all over again for no good reason.

Zorba, I agree with your comments re typing. I learned to touch-type freshman yr of HS. Over the years I have owned several typewriters, both manual and Selectric. I actually enjoy typing.
I looked on line for manual typewriter ribbons. Office Dep had one, but it's out of stock, Staples listed none. I also looked for a refurb Royal manual typewriter- $400. I think most people won't pay that.
Which brings us back to the wooden pencil (12 for $3) and plain paper.

No arguement intended or desired. If you want to print, go for it. I'll keep writing in code!

BTW, I still have my turntable, amp, and speakers. I play my 'old' records all the time.
