After dealing with a terrible purchase experience, this is what the top looks like... I am guessing it will stretch and not get tighter... My old top fit better. I expected to have to struggle to get it on the 1st time as its not hot out and it went on very easy... even above the door surrounds.

If I end up returning, I am not sure that I will order another.

Has anyone bought a top and it looked like this?

Is this on the Bestop hardware or the OEM hardware? I don't think the sets are compatible. Like a Bestop replace-a-top for OEM hardware may not fit Bestop hardware well, and vice versa.

If it's on Bestop hardware, the tension is adjustable at the B-pillar. OEM hardware is not adjustable to my knowledge.
 
My Bestop replace-a-top fit perfectly and exactly like OEM from what I remember when I owned three TJs brand new. I don't understand that at all unless Steel City nailed it.
 
I just bought one and mine seems loose as well. I assume I have oem hardware and it was previously twill, I replaced it with Sailcloth replace a top

I haven’t seen one looking that loose but for example I know that I have the NX Supertop framework and have a classic Supertop soft top and it fits much more loose than the NX Supertop does.

So what framework do you have will be the most important thing to finding your fit!
 
I put a sailcloth replace-a-top on the stock frame last Labor Day. It fit perfectly and still looks great.

Mine is OEM hardware which the replace-a-top is made specifically for. I expected for it to be a total pain in the but to get stretched.. they recommend 70 degrees and I could have done this in the dead of winter.

I hope when it gets hot out the windows will flatten out... but this sailcloth wont be as quiet as my old one as it flaps above my head.

BTW: I bought through Amazon which I don't recommend. I think the line staff at Bestop are miffed about selling through Amazon as I got very bad service (1st one shipped was correct label on the box, but the wrong top). 1st one took 4 days, replacement was to take 2 weeks but ended up being a week and a half.

Top quality is great, but if it flaps as much as i expect I'll be looking at different top next time.
 
I put a sailcloth RAT on my 03 recently. I expected it to be much harder to put on. I used the stock hardware. It went on easily and I feel isnt as tight as the OEM top was. It fits pretty good but definitely flaps more at speed and water will puddle on it. I wish it was tighter. But yours looks much looser. I wouldnt be happy.
 
Looks like bad fabric assembly. How's the underside look around the seams? Recently received a top cut at odd angles along the bias and seams joined at wrong thickness. Made it too tight in spots where it should have been loose and too loose where should have fit snug. I'd send bestop pictures of everything and they should make it right.
 
I agree, that looks like shit. Did you purchase directly from Bestop? Now I'm re-thinking replacing mine with a replace a top, and may go a different direction like a Bulldog Hard Top.
 
Ive determined my issue with the header not fitting tight to the front of the windshield channel with my bestop to be caused by the sunrider pins preventing it from pulling forward any further. when i pull and hold the pins while clamping the header it seats correctly to the windshield. eventually ill get around to looking into whether or not theres any adjustment i can do anywhere.. or come up with my own way of making a adjustment to the pins with a drill bit.

That shot of the header looks wrong.

Here's is how it should look. I just installed mine about a week ago, purchased through Amazon. Fit perfect and just took it on a 600 mile road trip and she was nice and quiet.

Here is a pic of mine.

I agree with Todd, I think you missed a fold and that will definitely tighten it up a bit. I put a new Bestop Sailcloth top on mine almost a year ago on a hot day and it was tight enough that I didn't want to even try and take it down for at least a month to let it stretch in and conform to its new home first.
