Brake Lockup

Do you always start out going forward? Try going in reverse first abd hit the brakes. Any noise? Then do you have any after going forward.

Lastly...

We get a lot of drums in here where some components were installed by the owner but they complain of ill behavior.

Many times the components aren't installed properly and or components never were fastened right and we have pieces parts lying in the bottom of the drum.

It does happen when in reverse as well as forward.

Several things can duplicate those symptoms. First is the rear brake shoes rusting to the drum overnight. At the least you should pull the rear drums off and post up some pics so we can see if anything obvious is wrong.

Several other things can cause the bang and clunk when you hit the brakes but none of them will lock up the rear tires unless you have a big chunk of metal floating around in the diff.
