So... the wind caught the driver’s door as I was exiting my TJ. The door swung forward bending the footman loop and snapping off the upper bolt holding the footman in place. The broken bolt is recessed in the door. Nothing to get hold of.
I bunged up the whole situation trying to drill out the broken bolt. 😩 I think the bolt is M4 x 0.7. Any suggestions?

My driver half door has the same issue, so I’ll be checking in to see what your plan if action is.

Good thought Kid Mechanic but the screws are threaded into the steel adjacent to the plastic door panel. Attached is a pic of my butchery.

Drill it out or use a screw extractor. Remove the interior panel if needed.

Once you have a clear hole, it can be fixed using a standard machine screw/fender washer/nyloc nut. I removed the door panel to gain access to the backside.
