Hey Colorado peeps, my wife just booked our cabin in the area for the weekend of the 25-28 of August. We will be coming up from Texas and looking forward to getting out of this damn heat! We made a trip up a couple years ago and had a great time and just wanted to see if any of y’all would want to make a run on that weekend. If y’all want to respond on this thread maybe we can get a group together for a day or two of great wheeling and scenery! Thanks, Bob

There are a lot of people in Colorado that are not friendly to people from other states. You coming from Texas might have more difficulty finding willing people to ride with. Even transplants can be less than friendly because of your license plates. I camped by a Karen in Idaho with Colorado tags and she was full on rude. She told me that I don't belong in Colorado. What ever you do don't mention moving there.

That's hard to believe, our Colorado members on this forum are very welcoming to new people. Quick to jump in with words of encouragement and even a friendly dog picture.

And @lBasket is the friendliest guy ever as long as you don't throw his steak away before he's finished.

Don't come between a mountain man and his meat.

People honestly do suck out here sometimes - lots of crotchety old people that hate change, think they own the state since they "were here first" and other stupid BS like that.

But yeah we're not all like that. And while it's sad to watch the state turn into a socialist wasteland, it's not like being a dick to individuals is gonna help lol.

There's a lot of good people out here, too. Like always, the assholes tend to be the loudest minority. I'd be happy to meet you for some trails but not sure I'll be able to, my friend's wedding is actually 8/26. I'm pretty sure it'll be within 20miles of BV too, lol

Karen is from Texas. She needs to go right back to where she came from. 🤣

Hey guys, I just wanted to post this up to see if anyone would want to join us for a day or two of wheeling. We enjoy meeting folks from different areas of the country. I will be bringing this back up to the top as we get closer to our dates. Like I said we had a great time a couple years ago although it was kinda during the china virus shit show we did the trails by ourselves. Chinaman Gulch, Grizzly Lake, and Iron Chest Mine.

I'm a tentative yes. Was thinking Id return to Colo (just got back from a trip there a week or so ago) and run Black Bear pass.

Maybe I could come to BV afterwards!

What's funny is most of those people either are transplants themselves or their parents are transplants. I don't give a shit as long as you aren't an annoying jackass trying to pet an elk and you stay away from my secret spots. There's just a small group of out of staters that have left a bad taste I'm enough people's mouths that conflict is bound to happen. And when you can't even get a parking spot at a trailhead for somewhere you've been going to for 30 years and the trailhead is full of Texas and Florida plates that's not exactly gonna make people like out of staters. I usually don't mind out of staters though. Unless I'm stuck in traffic on I-70. Then you bet your ass I'm cussing all of y'all out.

Well as you can see, I might know the Buena Vista area. Come up with a plan for the days that you are here and I will try to hook up with you. I might even know a couple of trails that are more scenic.

That would be great, our dates are pretty much set. We will arrive Friday the 25th and check in and we will be checking out on Monday the 28th. We will be wheeling Saturday and Sunday if you can work that into your schedule either one or both days. Thanks for the reply, we are looking forward to this trip 🤠!

For my SA and planning, what type of stuff do you do, soft roads, 2 tracks, trails or rockcrawling?

Mild to kinda wild and in between, I do like a challenge every now and then🤠! We like going to Moab been half a dozen times, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, and local stuff here in Texas.

Wolf caves, K2?

I murdered a whole family of wild pigs crossing the highway coming home from wolf caves!

Oh hell yeah love me some Wolf Caves, we live a couple hours away. We are about 30 minutes away from Hidden Falls which is a local park where I wheel quite a bit.
