Buildings just dont fall down

Buildings in the western world do not just fall down!
How tragic and at 1am in the morning!
Its times like this that make me realize my volunteer USAR rescue training could be needed anytime anywhere even though I am not as active as I used to be.
Sad day in this totally upside down back to front world we seem to have very quickly inherited.

Not related but I see more problems arising in the future since Australia adopted the quick simple Chinese building methods with materials imported from China. I hope I am wrong!

Buildings don't usually just fall down, but ones built in the cocaine heydays might.

It'll be interesting to see what kinds of materials were used, where they came from, and how they aged. I'd also be interested in seeing who the construction company was that built it.

When I was 10 the side of a 22 storey tower block collapsed next to my school in East London (Ronan Point), engineers from all over the world came to inspect and learn from mistakes made in high density building practices, this resulted in the limited use of tilt up interlock panels and floors being used, although a kitchen gas explosion was partly blamed concrete cancer from the rio bar with interlock system was to blame for the weakening.
This Miami building was built 10 years after Ronan point partially collapsed.

Absolutely awful. When I first saw the still pic that the media was passing around I thought that only one part of the building collapsed. I didn't realize there was a huge pile of rubble next to the still-standing damaged building that had collapsed entirely.

It will soon come out if the piles didnt go all the way down to the Limestone and about when all the building official are dead or too senile! Was US still using Asbestos in the 1980,s?

No asbestos here in the US since about the early 1970's

2MM per year since 1990. It was in the process of a 40 year inspection too.

It's not the construction standards that are in question in this case.
