Te armrest thing is weird. I don't know why they elected to just do the strap on the door. My FIL has a 2000 with some aftermarket arm rest. Its pretty ugly, but going back and forth between his and mine...sure is nice to have. I might try to do one out of a piece of flat CRS, some exterior house foam and some nice vinyl. Shouldn't be to terrible to invent

Adaptive cruise control. Our GC has this and its hands down the best option I have ever had on a vehicle.
Steering wheel controls for the stereo. Our Ram and our GC both have these. I'm constantly fingering up the backside of the wheel on the TJ.

Thats it for me. TJ is my favorite vehicle to drive as it is, even without the x trees....

I was thinking about this just the other day as I'm driving down my dirt road and trying to turn down the stereo unsuccessfully. It then dawned on me that I have a wireless remote for my head unit, which would make it a bit easier to turn up/down the volume.

Heated seats and a heated steering wheel would be nice.

I think if I had heated seats and steering wheel Id be doorless and topless more often. lol... I'd love an electric retractable soft top. Here in the northern part of NZ we sometimes get 4 seasons in one day so being able to raise and lower the ragtop with having to get out on the side of the road would be great.

Rugged Ridge makes an arm rest for the TJ. Bolts right in where the straps go. Just remove the strap and screw in the arm rest. $54.99.

I wanted some music for the trails but considering how much some of these systems cost I decided to go the less expensive route. Here's what I used
-Plye hydro 2ch amp(iPhone as music source) comes with a dash mounted volume control, waterproof phone pouch, and all wires.
-note many reviews talk bad about this amp lacking power but there's a clear rubber cover on the side that allows you to turn up the gain and let me tell you, when turned up my neighbor two houses down can here my speakers loud and clear! Not bad for $45!! It plays loud over all engine and trail noise!!
2-6" PVC pipe end caps w/1.5" of 6" pipe cut and glued into the cap then cut off smooth
2-6.5" mtx marine speakers(best fit)
24' of marine black 18ga speaker cable
Stainless bolts to attach to cage w/washers, lock nuts and rubber bushing(between PVC and cage)

Maybe this will help someone looking to do a budget speaker in stall

BTW, I had a list of "must have" creature comforts when I was searching for my TJ.

1. Automatic Trans
2. AC
3. Cruise control

There are other items that I want to add that I'll have to list later. Work calls.....ugh.

I wish I could understand everything going on here. If I had a pic from farther back maybe I could. What's all the pvc for? Are you mounting the speaker in the mouth of the PVC? What are the other pipes for with the red end caps? Sorry I'm not following

Those other pipes are for the air intake. Raising it so that it can cross deep water and also helps visualize how deep you can continue to go or not if you are forging deep water.

I wondered the same thing. Apparently photos are of the speakers mounted on the RZR. I kept looking for something in the photos that looked like a TJ, but no luck...

Yeah, sorry guys, I'm on the road with limited time/availability. The PVC is all you need to build a weatherproof speaker pod for a 6.5" speaker. I'll try to elaborate if you need more info when I get back to home office.

I constantly hear, “Its a Jeep is is supposed to be dirty.” When I hear that I think of the word, “abused/neglected.” A raptor owner once told me this as I am looking at his truck. It was immaculately detailed. Not a speck of dirt on it...

So I may be the oddball but I love nice carpet and a factory looking interior when it comes to the TJ. I like welded in full roll cages, but I would be the first to turn my nose up at one crudely welded in with no attention to detail or interior compliment. IMO mods should compliment the existing Wrangler. I do feel this forum’s members have that strive for the most part.

Nice carpet, upgraded stereo speakers/amp, LED interior lights, window tint, and aftermarket seats are all creature comforts on my list. Did someone say cable shifter?

But aslo worth mentioning is dimming mirror like @JamesAndTheSahara recently installed as well as his factory aux radio mod. Those two mods alone can make it seem like a new Jeep when you get in it.

I can't stand the look of a hastily maxed out credit card. Jeep's (and other cars) that have no resemblance of thoughtfulness look pretty terrible.

To the OP - I do wish there were a couple more features that made a TJ more comfortable. More comfortable seats, more adjustments in the seat, more sound insulation from road noise, etc.

I have to admit, the one feature I really want/need is passive keyless ignition. My other vehicle has it and I love it. Just leave the fob in your pocket and never have to worry about keys. I can't tell you how many times over the years I've locked the keys in the TJ by accident, and had to unzip the rear window and climb through. I've never locked the keys in my other cars, ever, but for some reason I've done it a bunch of times with the Jeep. Even more now that the other car has passive ignition and I don't even think about keys anymore on my daily driver.

I need to look into adding this soon.

Weird. I've locked myself out of the TJ on multiple occasions but with any vehicle other than the TJ it's been twenty plus years since I've done that. The good news is that it's easy to get in. I also keep a spare so it's not an issue.

True, about half of the year that isn't a problem because I have no doors. Although leaving the keys dangling in the ignition with no doors is somewhat of a bigger issue... At least I've never actually walked away and done that.

Lol. I actually did stop locking the doors. Some bozo broke into the Jeep a while back and ripped the driver's side window out. There's never anything in the Jeep anyway so I just stopped locking the doors.

Nah all these comforts like heated seats, cruise control, automatic transmission would just make me fall asleep at the wheel more often
