If anyone is thinking of upgrading to a Dana 44 there may be a deal on here you're interested in. I don't know the quality or much about them but most come with lockers and gearing for whatever set-up you are going for.

If it is sold by Quadratec, you can buy similar quality for less nearly anywhere. I still remember when Quadratec was selling the Uniden Pro520XL CB radio for $69 when you could buy it anywhere for under $50 which means they were selling it for nearly 40% higher than other retailers were.

Not to mention G2 is the just the house-brand for 4Wheel Parts, it is imported from China.

Yeah, I know a lot of you guys love Quadaratec (I can't understand why), but I loathe them.

Jerry is right, you can buy similar quality for less from many other places. Quadratec's prices are always super inflated.

And yeah, G2 is Chinese. If I was going to get a new axle housing, I'd get Currie. I want to say Currie axles are made in the USA. Jerry of Blaine would know better than I would.

Guys my only allegiance for the most part when buying parts is to my bank account. Once I determine what part I am settled on I shop across all of my favorite Jeep sites including Amazon.

The best price to be had on the Warrior Products bumper (WAR#495) was $303 to the door.

Quadratec has the same bumper listed for $344.31 on their website.

I emailed Rob at Quadratec and I had a reply within 15 minutes with a quote of $289 to the door. It's already shipped from PA via Fedex and I will have it by end of day tomorrow.

If you are an educated buyer you can do OK with Quadratec.

I've never actually used a G2 axle first hand, but like Jerry said, it's an in-house, Chinese brand for these guys. I wouldn't drop big money on an axle from those guys. If I was going to go that route, I'd either have something custom made, or go with a company like Currie, that has tried and tested axles.

That's not to say that some guys don't run G2 axles and like them, I'm sure there's plenty who do. I'm simply saying I think the money would be better spent on another axle.

Edit: great info from @FT176, that they will beat other prices is a plus...I shop around too. Last purchase was from NorthRidge 4x4 where I was able to get my OME springs for 5% less than anywhere else. I used a coupon from the web to get that price, plus free shipping and no tax...

I'm happy with my G2 axle. It was not purchased via quadratec, and I got a decent military discount. ECGS is another option.

One of the cats at my local Jeep specific shops has G2 axles front and rear and swears by them. He has Currie and Old Man Emu/ARB products throughout the rest of his jeep.

Also, regarding my G2 axle. I went with the 33 spline chromoly shafts for the added strength, but I understood before making that decision that it is more difficult (very unlikely) to get a replacement quickly if I do break one. Something else to consider for anyone looking to upgrade their axle.

The problem with that is that you have to actually get ahold of them to beat the price. Other places you can just order it without ever having to email someone or call them up.

It's all about convenience (for me at least).

If I can find said product somewhere else for a lower price than Quadratec, why would I call up Quadratec and have them match the price? Doesn't make much sense, unless you like sitting on the phone.

Shopping around is always good!
