For those with experience with these shocks (besides the obvious like size ) , please tell me the difference. thanks

Shock ride quality is pretty subjective. Some folks love those foxes, others think they're too harsh, the ranchos have a good reputation around here but for a shock that long it may have different valving than the TJ applications. If it ( they) are valved for a heavy truck you may really not like it (them). For those with experience with these shocks (besides the obvious like size ) , please tell me the difference. thanks

Untuned Fox is going feel very jittery but nicely controlled overall. Rancho 5000x is much softer and mushy. Pick your poison, but I suspect most would prefer the Rancho. The Foxes don't come alive until they get a good tune.
depending on the shock you will have to call Fox and ask them . Thats what I would do.Dumb question because I have the fox shocks on my Jeep and they are too stiff. Who tunes them?
well i really dont need a race shock. so having a tunable external rez shock is overkill for me . So finding one compairable is a bit tough. Now Rancho does have a tunable shock the RS9000XL, but i think its for the big heavy trucks.
Compared to what? Rough Country and Pro Comp?
I might believe you if I saw this posted on JF.![]()
I ran 9000xl on my TJ for 4 years or so. I was happy with them for the most part. some folks report likeing them to adjust for winter or summer (hardtop and doors vs no top or doors) but i never really fiddled with them. got them where i liked them and left them alone.well i really dont need a race shock. so having a tunable external rez shock is overkill for me . It was @TheBoogieman. For some reason he felt compelled to create a dummy account.
That's odd. We've known each other long enough that he doesn't need to hide.
Anyone ??so the RS999047 is set up for the ford 250 and 350 / 18.87-31.21-12.30 compressed-extended-travel
and the RS999287 is set up for the for FORD 100 & 150 / 18.61-30.47-11.86 compressed-extended-travel
even though its an adjustable shock , Dont ya think the valving is setup to be MUCH heaver for the 999047 than the 999287 from the beginning and probably will not lighten up near as much???
Chances are very good that the valving is the same regardless of the vehicle fit.so the RS999047 is set up for the ford 250 and 350 / 18.87-31.21-12.30 compressed-extended-travel

kinda my thoughts too.Chances are very good that the valving is the same regardless of the vehicle fit.
Straight from the horse's mouth, "they are all the same and you just adjust to what your comfort zone is."Chances are very good that the valving is the same regardless of the vehicle fit.
