Jackstands are the right way to do jobs like that. If you haven't already purchased them, make sure to get the taller 6 ton stands. 3 ton stands are strong enough but they're not tall enough for a Wrangler.

Yep add the gear lube when the Jeep is on the ground and level, just keep adding until it starts to overflow the fill hole.

And I get to do my first project! It was super tight under there. I am going to have to jack it up and put jack stands in also, first time for that. I have been over the safety on that multiple times but getting under a lifted Jeep is a scary proposition.

I imagine the Jeep should be level when I add new fluid, correct? This is in my garage which has a slight slope for drainage. I plan on jacking it up and using jack stands to give me room for the work then lowering it to level to add the fluid at the end. Is that correct?

If you're trying to gain more room you'll be jacking up the frame and not the differential so the frame and body waill raise above the differential to give you more access to the cover bolts and to fill. There will be no need to lower it to top off the fluid level and I doubt your driveway is at so much of a slant to worry abut the fill level, just fill until it starts to trickle out the fill plug.

I was just Googling the jack stand placement for this project and couldn’t find anything so thank you for this. That makes sense, clear the frame and tub away from the drivetrain. That also makes me feel a little more comfortable with the lift as the tires will still be in the ground. Thanks!

I’ve never seen it, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. Its usually less than $10 and comes with different length tubes and such.

I have watched so many videos of this project I could probably make one myself and I’ve never done it. Haha. In those videos I have seen bottles with attachments that looked like they came with the fluid. Thanks for the help! I need it.

I was born in Philly and grew up about 2 hours Northwest of there, in the shadows of the Yuengling Brewery. The Air Force brought me to TX initially and then a post career job brought me back.

Flyers practiced today (16 players on the ice). They're scheduled to play on Thursday. I don't see that game postponed (fingers crossed).

Cool! As long as you aren’t a Cowboys fan! Haha. I am Philly my whole life, grew up 15 minutes from the stadiums. Love the Yuengling story, hate the beer and my Dad went to Lycoming with the guy. Haha.

We are Eagles season ticket holders since 1965 when my Grandfather bought them. I now have them. I lucked out with the color of my TJ. Threw a 41-33 season ticket holder magnet on the back.

Got my invoice today by coincidence. We are 7 rows from the field on the 25 yard line and they are $2,000 per seat. Another increase this year.

I bought some season tickets for a minor-league hockey team when I was stationed in Mississippi. I want to say they charged me $240. It was a buy one get one free special so I had two books of 32 tickets.. The seats were five rows from the glass in the end that the home team shot in the first and third period. The tickets had a $15 face value.

I really didn’t like the seats that much because the top of the glass was right at eye level and kind of distorted the view. So every game I would take the two tickets and stand by the box office. When I saw two people coming up I would ask them if they want to buy my tickets And tell them they were the $15 tickets. I would sell them for $20 total. People could not get the money out of their pocket fast enough!

I would turn around and buy a $10 ticket to sit a little higher in the arena and have a better view and also had money for a beer and a hotdog! I made all my money back and got to see all the games!

I have one of these pumps, but sitting there pumping diff fluid for 20 minutes is not fun. I just the squeeze the daylights out of the bottle, and bend it up when it's almost empty so it still "pours" in. You can't get every last bit out of the bottle this way but I always buy too much on accident and just pour the remaining into the next bottle pre-squeeze.

While we're on the topic, I think someone recommended this gear oil on here before, is that a good choice? I also noticed it looks like it's half off the normal price right now so I might buy it in advance

@Jerry Bransford here is a photo from the other side showing the pinion seal. Looks bone dry to me. I cleaned the diff cover and will try to take it out at some point and see what happens.

I just bought it, It spent it's life in South Carolina and I lucked out finding it locally. A local tow truck/ salvage company owner found it in SC when he was down there buying a tow truck for his business. He bought it and brought it back to PA and put it in his pole barn until I bought it.
