Dobinsons 3 inch lift

Sounds like they are designing them for super heavy front, like the OP has. ARB and winch with wire has it over 300+ pounds hanging off the front. More of a typical Australian rig than we run here.

Again, just a guess but the aussies do it different and OME seems to offer more of an American style of spring rate....I don’t know of anyone that runs a ARB or similar style bull bar on a TJ here in the states.

That is plausible. The ARB front bumper is a massive boat anchor.

I'm not sure who they are designing for, but these are nowhere near anything that I would choose for a TJ.

It's the typical Australian Toyota/Nissan mindset. None of the local Australian manufacturers did much work with TJ's apart from ARB.

If you want a moderate lift, go OME. It's a complete solution and if you are only doing moderate stuff you won't need to do anymore apart from some swaybar disconnects.

If you're keen to do and spend more, Jeep Konnection in Melbourne does quite reasonable pricing for Currie 4" springs and Currie adjustable suspension arms. You'll then need shocks, a SYE, tailshaft, adjustable panhards and brake lines. Expect $5-7k.

OME and a small body lift will run 33's easily.

I've already got an OME 2 inch which has been on the Jeep for probably close to 20 years and now the springs and shocks are needing a bit of a refresh. Seeing as though I'm going to be getting new shocks and springs anyway I might as well go for a 3 inch SL with no BL imo. I considered a 4 inch lift but I'd rather keep the cog a tad lower, not worry about control arms (yet), and also avoid lifting it too much because of our ridiculous laws.

For what its worth, I ended up speaking with tony from USA 4x4 in melbourne who sorts me out with most things and he told me the dobinsons kit is too heavy/stiff in his opinion. He pretty much pieces together his own 3 inch kit with Rancho shocks and custom made coils so I think that's most likely what I'll end up going with.

Thanks for all the input guys.
