Double DIN Install

Anyone know the part number or a source for the metal clips that hold the radio bezel on? Just did the Double Din install in my son's 1999 TJ and 2 of those clips broke.

Wow, this is an awesome write-up and an awesome head unit. I'm going to have to pick one of these up for my TJ now.

I'm curious to know how you end up liking it in the long term. Though I guess anything is an improvement over the stock radio!

So I did the double din surgery this past weekend and am looking for something non-touchscreen for volume control. Found this but it is overly large to mount anyplace reasonable in the TJ. Really wish it was a lot smaller and just the volume control.

Got the head unit and trim piece from Crutchfield. Wired through an alpine 45 watt amp for the speakers and 50 watt kicker amp for the new sub. Sounds wonderful once the equalizer was set up. It's just the damned volume that is a pain (and the brightness of the screen even when the screen is turned off)

I grabbed a rear camera as well but am waiting for spring to do that part of the surgery.

Looks great! I understand you're frustration with not having a volume knob or rocker. I couldn't find anything to work with my Pioneer double din. You're lucky Kenwood makes something that works.

A Matte screen protector could tone down the brightness and glare.

When I did my double din installation, I used a Sony XAV-AX100. It was the only one that I found with a volume knob. Unfortunately I'm not sure if they are still availeable.

They are readily available for cheap on FB Marketplace and similar places.

After using volume buttons in the TJ and a volume knob in the LJ, I greatly prefer physical up/down buttons over the knob bc it’s much easier to accurately adjusts volume when the rig is swaying and bouncing around. Didn’t expect it to be that way but it became obvious in practice.

Edit: I should add that the volume knob on this aftermarket unit might be more sensitive than others. A slight over adjustment or slip sends the volume to ear shattering levels. YMMV
