Extra nutserts for savvy rocker guards

I saw a post a while back that mentioned using nutserts on the lower side of the steel slider so it can be removed without removing the aluminum base. But normal nutserts are too thick at the flange to let it sit flush. And now I can't find the post because this forum has 4 bazillion threads that talk about savvy and/or nutserts in a limitless variety of contexts.

Anybody have a source for ones like savvy provides, or better yet, have some leftovers I could buy off you so I don't have to order 100? Looks like I need 14.

I should also add. A rotobroach bit works amazing for drilling the holes in the tub with the rocker aligned.

That does look handy, thanks for the suggestion. I've already drilled the passenger side though, and my LJ is my daily so I'll probably just power through the driver side tonight or tomorrow so I can get the bases to the powder coaters and get it all back together asap.

They don't have to sit flush but you can take a countersink to the outer edge of the hole and get them to sit more flush. If you really want them to sit flush, that is very doable if you are sufficiently motivated by using a piloted counterbore. I needed the flange on the ones below to sit flush so I used a piloted counterbore after I drilled the hole.

I did, but they were the same as what I have so one of is confused, likely me.

It’s handy for sure, I got it on the recommendation from Blaine on another thread. I used it on my sliders, I also found it did an amazing job at the factory nutserts that hold the flare extension on. With the rotobroach I was able to cut them flush to the tub.

I became a rotabroach believer after doing my driver side slider install with twist and stepper bits and my passenger side with the rotabroach. I did the bigger kit since I wasn’t sure on necessary sizing.

Before anyone does the usual bullshit that happens on here, they are not a requirement to install anything that mounts to the body, drill bits still work fine. They are however, exceptionally easy to use, make round holes, and are highly accurate.

100% my experience. It simply made things easier, and since I work with 4-5others in my group this tool was easy to buy to share with them all. We would have had the stuff installed without them (which we expected to be the case).

I love learning about new tools. Since I don't work in an industry that uses this sort of thing, I'd never know about it except for this place.

Too late for this project, but I'll definitely look into them for the next thing. I'd buy them now but nothing in particular comes to mind for what I'd use them for next, and I don't need any more tools to move to Oklahoma in 4 weeks.

If you plan on sharing them, get some extra 3/8" cutters. Write what they cost each on the package so the users know what it will cost them to fuck one up.
