Front Highline Fender Purpose

I really like the idea that Nemesis includes new mounting brackets. It definitely makes the price seem better. What's annoying is that for the additional "flare" they don't really explain how it attaches. Seems like it bolts on, but they say no drilling? Is it easy to take on and off? What are the "skeletos?"

Oh no, there is absolutely drilling. It mounts using countersunk hardware.

Skelotos is extra ribbing inside the flare to reinforce the outer lip. I went without, but I’ve also bent my rear flare, but I’d rather the flare bend than it push harder into the body.
 
Does anyone still rub with highlines and/or which brand offers the most clearance behind the tire? Mine does.

My setup:

2" forward stretch
65" WMS
3.5" effective backspacing
calculated 38.75" diameter tire
Motobilt highlines

I would rub the Motobilts if I had maxed out steering on the Superduty. One of the benefits of my bus turning radius high steer setup.

Nemesis falls directly into the category of not having room to put stuff on the inner fender.

I think a quick tell of how well the inner fenders are designed is whether or not the PDC can still be mounted flat.
 
I think you’re referring to the ECM. I was able to leave mine in the factory location as the Nemesis battery box tilts the battery forward. It mounts to the firewall at 4 or 5 points and then I added a support that goes to the inner fender.

I don’t see how you would mount the power distribution box with the Savvy inner fenders unless you relocate it entirely.

Saw that as I was writing the next response and learned how dumb the Nemesis design is. 🤣

Guess it depends on the build. On my inner fenders I have the PDC, A/C Accumulator, GM PCM, and washer fluid reservoir mounted to the inner fenders.
 
I tried to order them through extreme terrain since they indicated in stock, I canceled the order a month later when they had no shipping time frame. I didn't do it direct, so that may be a different experience.

They don't use firewall support brackets, so it'd be interesting to see how secure the inners are. They do have an add on battery tray that I would 100% use, be really hard to secure a heavy battery without decent firewall support.

Putting a hydro assist reservoir somewhere is another big consideration with choosing an inner fender design. And all the more reason for wanting a flat shelf to build off of.

This is becoming a principled position for me. 😉

take a look at a build I completed a couple years ago. "Skeletos" is added supports welded inside the flare. I will say that the aluminum "bolt-on" flares did not line up well. It took persuasion to align the bolt holes. So much that Rob had to make me a new set that fit better.

Thank you! Best (only) picture I've seen of that! Still weird that they say no drilling when you can clearly see that they are bolted through the fender itself.

Yep, depends on the build and why my second post in this thread recommends to do the research and base your decision on what you need to package. For my build I had no issues packaging the reservoir and the feed line is darn near vertical.

which brand offers the most clearance behind the tire

GR adds 2.25" behind the wheel. No front stretch. 4" + 1.25". 37's. No front stretch. I don't rub, but it is ever so close and I did add washers to the steering stops.
 
This is how much I needed to trim the Savvy sliders to fit the Crawltechs. Savvy was wheel well to wheel well on factory fenders.

Looks quite a bit less than the GR to me. It would be nice to have that space. Of course, another thing to measure is the new angle of the wheel well.

Take into account the mini boat side. His fenders go to the bottom of the tub. GR’s are trimmed to work with the sliders.
Not saying one offers more clearance than the other, just something to consider.

That's a good point, the point of reference is not the same.

Great observation. @JMT measure how far down from the hood line is from where you are taking your measurement and I can match to get a true comparison.
