Front locker options

I run a Dana 30 front & 44 rear. 4.56 gears with a ARB in the 44. 4 inch iron rock lift and 35s. I run difficult trails but most of the time its a the road. Not a DD but definitely not a trail rig or mall crawler.

Questions, looking for a front locker, not spending the money on another ARB for a Dana 30. Options to lunchbox, Limited slip? Looking for people's experience. Budget is around $300 for this mod for parts.

I’ve had a great experience with my front lunchbox. It is a little noisy in parking lots, but otherwise it is invisible on the street. You will have a slightly worse turning radius off road, but it isn’t very noticeable. You shouldn’t be too heavy on the gas when you turning hard (in 4x4) for the sake of your axles ujoints. You’ll feel the steering wheel want to return to center as you apply more throttle. if You have to fight the wheel you’re probably giving it a bit too much gas.

I say go for it, you won’t find more traction for under $300. Also, since you don’t have to swap the carrier this is a mod you can do yourself so long as your careful to but everything in the same place/orientation and are careful with the torque specs.

Thanks the info. Just don't want to make it un-drivable on the street. Get snow a few times a year but i will see how it feels.

I should have mentioned I never get snow. Supposedly you’ll have a lot of trouble steering in the snow with an autolocker.

I've had the Aussie Locker in my dana 30 for over 4 years. It is amazing off-road and virtually unnoticeable in 2wd (aside from soft clicking in turns). It is well within your budget also.

However I do not use mine in 4wd in the snow. I hear it can be a little tricky, but others have done it successfully after the learning curve was over.

I have a lunchbox (Spartan) in the front and a Detroit in the rear. We got snow once this winter. Just slow down and you won't have anything to worry about.
