Larry, not really trying to get in the middle of this, but the ignore button is exactly for the statement you made above. If you believe he has no value to you why do you keep responding?

Because people like him keep talking down to people as long as they are allowed to do so. There needs to be more people willing to stand up against his self serving belittling of people here. As stated above, and not by me, he is often wrong but will never admit it. There are many here who have extensive information and that are willing to help without ego driving the conversation. That’s why.

I met Blaine in person a couple of years ago. He welded a transmission pan drain plug for me. Blaine was incredibly nice and spent an hour of his time answering every Jeep question I threw at him.

I appreciated his help, and he makes this forum a better place.

I find his presence to be a bit of a double edged sword, he may be a wonderful guy in person, I don't know. But on-line he seems to switch between helpful and a complete ass. In a thread about ball joints he mentioned he didn't like the design of the dynatrac pro steer joints, I asked what he sugested as a better alternative. His response was to not run 37" tires. See? Not a helpful answer. I then got told by his biggest fan boy that basically I should know my place when I reacted. I see now that I should have put my high school attitude back on and walked away from the thread. He brings a wealth of knowledge, but he also brings a lot of attitude and ego. It's unfortunate, I know other people just like him, guys who know a huge amount on their given subject but you are never permitted to disagree with them. If you do plan on being belittled for quite a while. If you notice on most threads these days as soon as Blane posts a lot of people just step back. Frequently it's at least partially because he's right and no more info is needed. However its also frequently I suspect (I know it is in my case) because they don't want to deal with another dressing down by Blane.

I didn't read the thread about ball joints, but it sounds like he was right, don't run 37s and you won't have to ask the question. If you do want to run 37s you need to take a different approach anyway and the ball joints won't be an issue. There is no better alternative; how's that anyone's fault? If you think there is a better alternative, argue your points.

As far as stepping back after the question is answered, that tends to be human nature.

Thing is, the question wasn't "how do I run 37s" (I run a JK prorock 44 by the way) when he said he thinks prostear joints are a bad design I legitimately wanted his opinion on a better alternative as mine are in need of a rebuild or replacement. (up to that point I'd had no negative interactions with him) Instead I got sarcasm, and flippant answers.

As to stepping back after and answer is provided its usually more along the lines of abandoning the thread regardless of if the answer is complete or understood.

Well...Thanks everyone for your replies. I now know that I can either band-aid a fix (overflow / splash is the current symptom) or I can dig deeper and correct a design flaw probably related to a materials choice or poor manufacturing tolerances IMO.
The conversation has been enlightening and I'm glad there are such diverse opinions and ideas about possible causes and solutions. I look forward to future threads and hope I can contribute some of my experience to the conversation.
