Gen III Hemi Swap into TJ Reference Guide & Swap Info

It looks like there is enough material on most of the ports to blend them some.

At this point I'm going to wait for the new exhaust manifolds to arrive before I try anything. Then if the new ones don't fit/work I'll look at trying to make these flow better.

OK, so I guess that we all suspect that Big Brother is watching and listening to everything we say and do, but this just might be another confirmation of that. I get this article today out of the blue from Speedway motors on headers vs manifolds....
Coincidence..?? Or maybe they are..👂
Either way I've included the link and it might be a good read, most of theirs are pretty good..

Shhhhhhhhhhh......

Is there a comparable set of manifolds from later hemi's?

Don't know yet. I've ordered a set of later model GC manifolds and I'll see how they fit once they arrive.

Someone is listening...

I'll give it a read.

These look interesting. Similar to the block hugger headers I had for my Magnum.

Nice video. I would only add that if you don't want antifreeze all over/in your floor, shoes, cylinders, oil pan etc. just pull your water pump. Take a shop vac and hold it against one of the water pump holes on the block and when you can't hear or feel any more flow do the other side and NO mess.

Transmission Update

In case you missed it in the earlier post about it, the 545RFE and 65RFE are considered "modular" transmissions. While most transmissions can be converted from 2x4 to 4x4 configuration, many needed to be disassembled in order to do so and many needed new/modified output shafts. The 545/65RFE is different; going from 2WD to 4WD is simply a matter of bolting on the correct tailshaft housing/extension.

[Removal of 2WD tailshaft extension]

Removal requires nothing more than removing the 15mm socket bolts around the perimeter of the adapter, then using a small rubber mallet and a putty knife to break free.

Both the 2WD and 4WD extensions are installed with Black RTV. My transmission-rebuilder friend (the one who gave me the extension for free) suggested "Ultra Grey" since the black will sometimes weep. When a trans rebuilder for 20-years suggests something, you do it! :)

You wouldn’t have happened to write down the part number of that extension housing adapter. I was looking at my 2nd 545 and my 231 and it it easy to see something else is needed:) I spent some time searching but came up empty.

There is a set of YT videos about a guy who does a Hemmi swap into his LJ and he lists the part number. I'll see if I can find the videos.

Edit: try watching this I think the part number is in video 1 or 2 of his series.

So all the information I'd found so far on the radiator hoses recommended were a NAPA brand.

Upper-8030 This is 1 9/16 & 1 13/16 which fits the OD of the water pimp & radiator closer.
Lower-7759 My problem with this one is that it's 2" ID on both ends which doesn't fit the water pump or radiator size.

Now using the vehicle information from NAPA I came up with these hoses.

Upper-Gates 21324
Lower-Gates 21054

Of course I haven't verified that these Gates hoses fit but will here soon.

Hammer do you happen to have any pictures or drawings of your fuel pedal bracket? Be nice to have the information here plus I'm starting my Hemi swap and need to make or find a bracket.

Thanks
Sorry for the delayed reply, I didn’t see this until now. This is a very crude pedal bracket I bent in a vice but it’s been working great with no issues. I recently acquired a 75 ton press brake and when I get some free time I’m going to tighten up the bends and clean up the design :()

It looks like you are using the GC SRT pedal.

Don't know if helps anyone or not but I just tried to take some pictures of my pedal mounted. Hard to get good pictures because of space and lighting.
