Got into it with a state cop

I'm come up to a traffic light there is a car in the right turn lane just sitting there. Maine has right on red so I blow my horn to let this guy know to turn. He turns and pulls over.

So I pull next to him put my window down its a State Cop. He tells me it's a double red light. I said I've never heard of a double red light.

He said there is a light ahead that is red at the same time so there isn't a reason to turn. I replied so I'm supposed to know there is another light down the road that is timed the same? I don't live here.

So he starts yelling at me about me honking my horn. Tomorrow I'm going to talk to a supervisor at the state police. How do I know I'm right because I would've been arrested.

First thing I'm going to ask is can you explain a double red light.

Two ex cop works for me at the job site and it is scary to know they were both a patrol cops at some point in their lives. One of them has a very short fuse that snaps on a blink.

This won't be the first time I've had a talk with a police supervisor. I'm polite when I talk to them, they don't want me to file a report.

Had to go above an officers head once. I got a ticket my tinted windows, about 18 years back. When he pulled me over I knew why but here in Oregon you can have a medical exemption, which I do and proceeded to hand him my DL, registration, insurance and my medical exemption.


He gives the med exemption back (which also has the state ORS that gives the thing credit) and informs me he never heard of it and won’t look it up. I informed him twice just to read the ORS and he would know. Nope, gave me a $450 ticket.


I drove home pissed off but decided to go talk to the on duty desk Sgt. When I walked in, I explained what happened, provided the paperwork. He read it, told me to hang on and went in the back. Out walks thr know it all cop with his little book out, reads it before even acknowledging me. Said nothing but picked up the ticket, wrote void and walked off. Desk Sgt. came back, smirked and said to have a nice day.


I got the feeling that the Sgt. Had a little satisfaction in having that officer do that.

No I get it, but I’m aware and rolled all four of mine down when I pulled over. I thought everyone should always do that. Makes it safer for all involved.

My best friend's two son in-laws are Cops, they both told me when they put on the uniform they become assholes. The younger of the two drove a class A motorhome from Maine to Kansas then back. His wife, and Mother in-law (Nila) went with him, my buddies wife Nila said he got stopped in almost every state for going 85 or so mph. He would flash his badge, and say professional courtesy they would let him drive off.

When Nila was done visiting her family in Kansas she said no way I'm I getting in that motorhome, Nila flew home, and never rode with him again.

I don't know if this is true everywhere but the kids I went to school with who were picked on/beat up in school either became school teachers, or cops.

Lucky for me it was at 6:20 PM because after 9pm cooties kill in Maine.
