My 2001 tj has a very loud grinding noise at highway speeds only when the clutch is pressed in, in neutral or with just enough throttle applied that I’m just coasting with no load on the driveline. It sounds like a really bad bearing or maybe the tc chain scraping the housing of the transfer case. Has anybody else experienced this kind of noise? Possible fixes?

Hey, Manual or Auto? Have you checked the fluids in trans and tc? Did this just start happening? Cheers.

Manual. Fluids were just changed in both trans and transfer case. This started happening a few months ago and progressively got worse. Now after having the Jeep off the road for 3 weeks so I can swap my rear axle it got really bad all of a sudden.
