Colorado Holy Cross Aug 31 2019

Think I’m going to try to go find red cone or do mosquito again today (in the daylight). Leaving Denver around 11 (needed some rest after yesterday). Anyone is welcome to come along.

Highly recommend Red Cone.

I'm out for obvious reasons, just ordered a rebuild kit for the rear shaft.

Sadly @jodomcfrodo I'm on house work duty - I used up my 4x4 card yesterday with my kids apparently being crazy. Be safe out there!

What's happening Sept. 10th? Add another bent currie tie rod to list of trail damage yesterday!

Driveshaft rebuild. Denny's was out so I sourced parts from Ebay.

Also, a bent tie rod is a good excuse for you to buy the harbor freight press tomorrow for 25% off!

these are some incredible photos, I'd like to say I wish I was there but there's no way I'd be messing around with rocks that size 😲😬

I had the pleasure to ride and chat with @jjvw for the day - I’m long away from being ready for that trail, however. It did give me a new appreciation for 33” tires, a careful build, and the incredible things Jeeps can do.

Broadly speaking, mine might be near the minimum of what is needed to still have a good time yesterday. The worn out 33s were just enough to make the axles almost clear. The old bumpers would have been nothing but trouble and the stock skid would have kept me on the easy stuff.

It was really interesting to compare and contrast different build details since everyone got into difficult spots at one point or another.

I’m planning on seeing downtown Denver tomorrow, but if anyone wants to wheel for the holiday, let me know. Be more than happy to go out again.

Red Cone was amazing today. I quickly became popular after I cleared a traffic jam and spotted several stock rigs over the first obstacle. Then I cruised around helping whoever asked. One guy in a mint 98 TJ Sahara (40,000 miles, 1 owner, Dana 44) was running 45 PSI.

Anyway, near the end I tried radical hill with one of my new friends. Pretty easy for me, but his 4 runner couldn’t make it so I turned around and headed back to Montezuma and then Golden.
