How To LS Swap Your TJ

What size lift kit was needed? And any body lift?

I started with no lift of any kind. However, my biggest interference is exhaust to front drive shaft which I ran without one for a year so it was a non-issue at the time. When I got the front DS installed, I still ran it for a few months both on and off road and the exhaust slowly just self clearenced most of it. The engine placement was too far to the driver side so that was my fault on that.

With the exhaust figured out, the next interference is the crank pulley. The picture below shows what its like with under 2in bump stop extension. So with that said to maintain factory up travel, I would recommend a 2in lift. You could potentially raise the engine higher into the engine bay with a lower profile car intake and keep stock height with stock uptravel.

I am glad it can help someone! Just need to finish writing up the wiring and AC which I am getting close to finishing.

Look forward to reading that. While a LS swap isn't on my radar anytime soon I still enjoy reading about how others tackle a swap.
 
Time to follow up! Got my AC sorted out so I can start writing up on that. I might drive around for a few days to make sure it actually works. It will certainly make the 5-1/2 hr drive to Silver Lake for my July 4th trip much more tolerable. Charged it with the DIY cans to make sure it works and holds pressure, going to properly fill up tonight with an actual AC machine.

Are you saying an LS swap “IS” on your radar, just not anytime soon? 😆 Calling @Apparition!

Well my daughter might need/want a V-8 at some point for her TJ.... It's not mine so you never know she could make the POOR choice of wanting a LS instead of being smart and going with a Hemi.

Hey, that RPM converter box is the last piece of my swap. Could we connect on how I can get this from you? I have a 97 TJ 4-cyl originally. Hopefully its the correct version.
