Those really are great little wheelers! After six months of shopping around for a decent jeep I could not find the "right" one. Kept coming across these little samurai's and usually a fraction of the jeep prices. This 88' is all stock except for a weber carb. 4x4 + everything works great and it fits the same trails as my Polaris ranger! It won't see any interstate driving, that's for sure.

There was one that came into our camp on the Alaska Highway in October. It had a Volkswagen diesel .....Wonder what kind of engine swaps you can do with these things?

Fit good ..... home fab, but done right.
Years ago .... friend rolled his CJ. Roll bar saved the Jeep .... friend not so lucky - no seatbelt. Friend gone ....If you plan on wheeling it please put a roll cage in it

The 1990 and newer models all had fuel injection.I was about to say... First thing I would want to do is fuel injection!
I guess our Florida climate and small elevation changes are not enough to affect the carb. Every carbureted truck, car, and motorcycle that I've owned for the past 35 years ran good all year round.
I can see where you live on the west coast, or any other mountainous region it would be a major factor.
