Hello,

I’m in the midst of replacing my engine and so I cannot “start” my Jeep.

In the interim, I ripped out my fuel sending unit and trying to use a 20ohm resistor to jump the sensor to show the fuel gauge move at all but no luck. When I meter the two sending wires, I see 2.4v.

When my key is in the ON position, my fuel tank shows empty and my voltage gauge isn’t doing anything either. Is that normal? Do those gauges activate when ignition key is just in ON position or only after your start the car?

Gas and voltage gauges are live when the key is in on position, before starting.
