Is the Jeep wave almost extinct?

The last time I regularly drove a Jeep was 1986-1988. It was a 1970s CJ5 and back then EVERY other Jeep would wave.
Driving Denver CO to Southern CA it was VERY hit or miss. Especially in towns where every 10th vehicle was a Jeep of some sort.
Back in the 80s, you might see 1-3 Jeeps a day on the road.
in 2020 I can pass 3 of them on the way to the grocery store.

Also, this Hand Print thing on the mirror DOES NOT COUNT.

We moved last September and my Jeep was out of commission until recently. I've been really surprised at how many waves I have been getting since I've been driving my Jeep again. It seems this area waves a lot more than where we lived before (about 20 minutes down the highway) and I get waves from TJs, JKs, and JLs. The wave is alive and well here!
