Jeep LJ rocker guard

Need a little help with this before I go on instilling these rocker guard. should I cut off the notch where its mounts to the body mounts and drill holes through to guard and tub and tie them both with bolts. I know body mount rocker guard are frown upon. which will be my best approach? these are Motobilt rock slider by the way.

You should throw them off a bridge and buy @Fluxor stuff instead.

I don't do anything hard core when it comes to rock crawling. beside I need a sidestep for my old lady. at first I was talking about getting the Genright rocker guard, but I didn't want to spend $1000 pulse for some rocker guard.

Figure out a way to mount them to the tub if you can. Torque box underneath and side of tub.

I was thinking of just cutting off the tab where the bracket goes under the body mount and drill some holes on the rocker guard to the torque box area.

Make sure and get them mounted flush to the torque boxes and tub. Not just "against" them, but "pressed against" them. There are some good posts and pics about how to do it here on the forum.

Ideally you'd want more material on the other end of the rock slider too, but it is what it is...

Nutsert into the torque box. Unless you can sleeve into the floorpan to prevent crushing the torque box. Or get a nut inside the torque box. All of that lays out the rules for when and when not to use nutserts.

Thanks, I'll use nutsert for the torque box. I'll also try to weld a 3x3 3/16 metal plate on the front rocker guard to the torque box as well.
