I was under the impression that down stream sensor had nothing to do with fuel trim, that it's just a baby sitter for the cat and that the fuel trim is ONLY controlled by the upstream. It seems to me I remember Ryan from FRP even weighing in on that subject a few times.

Maybe I’m wrong. I still think he needs to spend some time investigating his wiring.

That would be my first suspect also since the first code came back, and the second code showed up after install.

One other thought was, @Cloaked_TJ06 , did you clean and put some dielectric grease on the terminals in the plug before you plugged the new sensor in? Also, did you delete the original code before you started it up with the new sensor in?

I didn't clear the code since I don't have a code reader but the engine light went off and came back on with the previous code p0137 then it came up with the 2nd code . also i didnt know you had to put the grease on terminals . just plugged it in thought it was fine and drove it for like a day or 2 then it came back on with those codes . should I return the Walker sensor and get the ntk OEM one and should that fix the issue or is it the wiring ? Wiring and everything seemed fine when installing it

First, you can clear the codes simply leaving the battery disconnected for a hour or so... probably less.

Second...a Bluetooth ODB dongle and the free app Torque Lite will let you read, clear codes and monitor live ODB data including O2 sensor voltages which would assist you greatly in troubleshooting.

Lastly...there are three things to do to verify wiring. One...deloom...remove the plastic tube...and visually inspect every wire. Look for cracked insulation, broken or partially broken wires or discoloration. Two... continuity tests...three...ohm tests...all done with a multimeter and the factory service manual wiring diagrams available for download in the resources section.

Newbie here - quick question - do you need to proactively replace your O2 sensors as preventative maintenance or quit until you are getting a check engine light? I just purchased a 2003 with about 150K miles on it and have no clue if the O2 sensors have every been changed?

I'd leave them alone. I went through 2-3 new ones and finally fixed my issues using a used NGK from a 2000 I'm parting out.

If you do anything get a code reader or a Bluetooth ODB dongle and Torque Lite and check the voltages. Best to get a feel for the data while it's working... it'll help you identify issues later when it's not.

Thanks , Just saw this but I do have another cel light on and the code is p0133 and that's an o2 sensor correct ? I feel like after that one o2 sensor I replaced all the others are going to go out and my TJ 4.0 L has 174k on it I'm sure its due for all of em id say . I also came across another thread about it may be a cat issue but I don't know just yet haven't replaced the new o2 sensor since it just came on yesterday before heading off to work .

thank you Chris , do you know the location of what I need to replace ? also Is there a video I can look at for reference at all ? tried finding stuff on YouTube but there's not much I found at least .

Checked out the photo on the first page and what I'm getting out of it is that its the o2 sensor closest to the firewall ? also are the links on first page all recent ? also why is the Amazon link cheaper than the auto parts stores ? feel like I got ripped off on my last o2 sensor since it was like $75 dollars at local auto parts store compared to what amazon lists em at

i hardly shop on amazon but i think ill order it tonight rather than from auto parts store to save me some money . also all the links and everything are correct just don't want to order wrong one and have to go through a return process .

I recently updated those links since a member pointed out to me that some of them were no longer functional. That being said, they should all be correct! It was only a few months ago I updated them and I made 100% certain to cross reference the part numbers with the manufactures website. I spent a decent amount of time on it actually :LOL:
