Kim's 99 Jeep Wrangler Build Thread

Look! It's finally happening! :D :D

I have completed the first stage of the pinstripe replacement. I have the black stripes off and cleaned up the area it was in. Now just waiting for Hubby to get home on his lunch hour so he can help me place the purple stripe. :D

Taking the old off,

No more black stripes.

Pretty darn close match to the spray paint I chose for my accessories. :D

Everything is ready and waiting for the Hubs. I have the hood latches off so we can just go right over the hole. The 2 containers on the stand are actually cast iron pots that hubby tosses his loose change in. Those are to weight the hood down so the pin striping will go on straight all the way down the body! :D

I will update once we get the pin striping back on. :D

Ok, so we did it. The passenger side came out a little better then the driver side, but hey, what do you expect from rookies. LOL I'm still happy with it.

Here are some before and after shots, this one even shows how the passenger door stripe was missing some of it's stripe.

You can see that the door stripe looks to go up a bit in the middle. I also noticed that the hood stripe on the driver side is a tad lower in the middle. I figure you can't see both sides at the same time. LOL If it proves to bug me to much, I have plenty left over to redo the door and hood if need be. :D

I also replaced my missing pin for the soft top. It actually comes as a whole unit, not just the pin. Nice thing is, they sent me two! :D Just in case.

Looks good to me! Just the right amount of purple power! I wouldn't do too much more though, at the risk of being shunned into angry bird grill hell.

Thanks, and yah, I plan to stop there with the purple. I was going to do the words on the side too, but with the purple people eater and the stripes, I think it looks better black.

Personal preference, but It might clean up even more if you got rid of the "Wrangler" "4.0L", and "Sport" on the sides. I did, and thought it cleaned up nicely.

Those are the words I was talking about leaving black instead of changing them to purple. I think they look better black and if I changed them I think it would be way to much purple in one spot. I'm kind of proud of what the Jeep is so I will keep them. Don't want to remove them all together. :D

I've been wanting clear lenses for my Jeep for some time now. Well, the time is now. LOL They came in the mail today. It was a pretty easy swap. Would have been even easier if I didn't have my guards on them. :D

I really like how they turned out. :D I think on a white Jeep they just look so much better then the stock. :D

I've been wanting to change to clear lenses for some time now. Just haven't pulled the trigger. You may have put me over the edge, lol! Looks great BTW.

Those look good. I think clear lenses look good on the right color. White and silver. I tried it on my khaki but didn’t like it.

Just a quick update since the lense update.

I installed an amp finally. Found one small enough to fit under the steering column. I kind of just zip tied it up for now, still need to do something more permanent, but it works.

Then I finally got the hubby to buy me some new tires. Yay!! :D

Before and after,

I went to my first 4x4 show and won Top Mall Crawler!! :D I am still pretty stoked about winning my first trophy with it, I don't care if it was for a Mall Crawler. :D

I saw a post on here about this storage box that mounts to the center console. I had to try it! It comes with 3 strips of 3M tape on it, but because I wanted to still be able to use the tumble feature of the seat, if I need it, I chose to go with some velcro. So far so good. It seems to be staying put.

I also go brave enough to go out and try 4 wheeling. :D A friend and I went out to Prairie City SVRA. We had a good time and I got to see a little of what the Jeep can do.

My first rock flex. LOL

Found a little bit bigger rock. I really didn't want to try to climb one of the big tractor tires as I don't know how much you can do with the sway bar still connected.

+HBjRpuERI2WuyXEn6XL5w.jpg

After 4 wheeling I decided I wanted to start hitting some trails. Before I can do that though, I wanted to make sure I have a winch. I went and bought a hitch winch mount and got the winch put on that.

Muai4FEDTDidGCEk3iROjQ.jpg

After getting that on, I went out and did some measuring and figured out that just relocating the light bar wasn't going to be enough to be able to put the winch on. The bull bar was in the way. So I bought this.

Today I worked on getting that put on.

We also got my trailer done. Just need to go buy a spare for it, but it is towable now. :D

Because of my off roading trip, I decided to start getting some things for the Jeep that will help protect and also help with other aspects of 4 wheeling. :D

Got a oil skid plate!! Of course it was going to go purple, did you think I would put it on black? LOL

Got some tire deflators that you set to a certain psi, and am working on this air pump. I want to change the end to connect to the battery instead of a cig lighter.

Slowly but surely I will have some of the essentials! :D

I haven't updated this in awhile. I seem to like to just put the things I do to it in the "what did you do to your tj today" thread. LOL

Since the last photos the main thing I did was add the winch.

For that run I wanted to take some chairs and it is always a pain to have the chairs in the back and still be able to open my drawer to get to our lunches and all. So, I made a platform to hold the chairs. I'm going to make it cover the whole back in this summer, but in a pinch this worked. :D

My radio quit on me again, so I found this cheap radio at Walmart. With 2 year warranty, came to 22 bucks. :D

I was finding that when the door was fully open, I would grab the door panel toward the top to pull it shut. So I made a parachord lanyard to pull it with. :D Works great!!

And finally, to get things all caught up. Today I installed my 1.25" Savvy BL and my Brown Dog 1" MML. For the most part I did the BL by myself. :D I did have to have hubby's help in the MML. That was a pain in the a$$.

I forgot to take a pic of the original height. It was 18". I remembered to take a pic of the after. It just didn't come out that great. A little over 19" now.

I'm going to be painting that dirty piece to the left black eventually. :D

And here are the side by side pics. Before on the left after right. You can see how the grille guard now sits lower then the hood. I will be raising that up a bit eventually. I can't get to the headlight screws that easily with the way it is now.
