Korra, a daily driven and trail ready Sahara

Spent the day making minor adjustments and doing a little body work. Started by hammering down the area where the tire carrier hinge mounts to the tub, somewhere along the lines it had popped about an inch out.

Also did some work on the other dent. Pulled it as much as i could but without the proper tools its as good as its gonna get till its covered with my Savvy armor.

Also threw on a bandaid lol. Lastly i moved the rear axle forward 5 half turns per side and adjusted the pinion angle accordingly so she can actually stuff the rear tires. I went and tested it, no vibes and she stuffs em, dodnt get a picture cause its stupid hot here and i wanted to go home. All in she should be ready for the Rubicon again. This time im going all the way through.

Today I installed a set of Poison Spyder bumper frame tie ins. This time i painted them the right color the first time and they came out pretty good!

They were a bit of a pain to install though, lining up the bracket inside the frame did take some time but they should be worth the hassle.

The install looks pretty clean, im hoping the extra brace will protect my rear crossmember from damage during recoveries.

The Rubicon, the big one. Finally got my chance at redemption for a failed trip on my last attempt. Today I finally finished it! It was a crazy trip. First day we made it to a little after walker hill and this morning at 6:30 we hit the trail and had reached the far end by 3:00. Im glad to finally have this Jeeps one failed trail redeemed and couldn't be happier with its performance! These Yokohama tires were the real winner today as they never gave up grip even in the wet, soggy and cold conditions. Our overnight stay was plagued with rain, snow and wet gear as we went with just a safari top on the jeep and no tarps. It was a miserable night but todays triumph was worth it! Enjoy some of the pictures taken on the journey!

Coming into the Loon Lake trailhead you are greeted by this wonderful sign.

The Granite bowl is a beautiful spot to take some pictures and have a snack after the gatekeeper. From here the trail only gets more beautiful and more challenging.

We set up camp in the pouring rain that night and all our gear was soaked.

Woke up in the morning greeted with a frosty and very moist Jeep. Started her up and used towels to dry the seats so we could hit the trail.

It was a beautiful morning and the views were absolutely breathtaking.

One thing they dont tell you when you make the leap to 35’s is how much easier they make things then 33’s. With the grip on these Yoko’s we made great progress throughout the day.

Once again the trail gives us some incredible views many people will never get the chance to witness.

Crossing the bridge was an awesome moment, whenever i think of the Rubicon its this picture that comes to mind.

Even found parts of the Cadillac on Cadillac Hill, coincidentally this also was my favorite obstacle of the trail.

The Rubicon really does have some breathtaking views!

Enter the basic staging area photo! Tookit as a chance to take a break and have a snack before grinding out the rest of the trail.

Heres one of the lakes on the way back to town from Cadillac hill, after that obstacle it is a grueling drive back to the staging area which takes a good while. All in it was a wonderful trip and one im unlikely to forget. From the views to the fun obstacles to the challenging night it was one hell of an adventure!

Glad you made it thru. The weather wasn't kind to us either when we went last year. You just never know what you're going to get up there.

When we arrived we spoke with the Sheriff that runs the trail and he was saying it would rain a little but thats it. The wet/cold/slippery conditions made the trail a good challenge.

Today took the Jeep out and did Slick Rock trail. This was my first trip there on the 35’s and they really made it a cake walk. We didnt take too many pictures as i was just trying to have a good time but heres what i got.

I couldnt be happier with the on trail performance on this Jeep, it has done everything I've asked and made it look easy! Now of only it had more power on the road 🤔

LS swap? Or better gearing?
I definitely want to go to 4.88’s which will probably be the next thing (it’ll be a while though) and im thinking about a stroker motor, ahould be able to pass smog and add a good 50hp and 50ft-lbs which would be plenty to make it nicer to drive heading up into the sierras.

Rubicon looks awesome! I hope to do it one day and knock off a few Cali trails in a trip. Camping and wheeling is rad.

Deer Valley finally opened this week so I decided to give it a run and see how the trail is this year. It was a blast and it really is a beautiful trail!

It was fun getting to do this trail again, saw some interesting stuff like a bone stock, brand new (on paper plates) 4runner and a few quads out having fun. The trail was a cake walk for the new setup with 35’s. It really is perfect for my use apart from a lack of power and i could use 4.88’s...

Earlier this week my footwell bulb on the drivers side died. Decided to get some cheap LED’s on amazon and see how it looks.

They came out pretty good, definitely brighter than the stock bulbs which will be nice when getting in at night. Overall it was a cheap easy change that should make the Jeep just a little bit nicer as my daily driver!

Nice Jeep. My 2000 green Sahara started out bone stock, just like yours. If you don't already have the M.O.R.E. dead pedals, I highly recommend them for both driver and passenger. They're relatively inexpensive and super easy to install. Between those pedals and solid mounted Grabars, passengers can really sort of lock themselves into the seat so they don't get bounced around much anymore. You'll also appreciate that pedal when driving longer distances because you'll have a much improved place to rest your left foot.

Great thread to follow, gives me all sorts of ideas to spend even more money on my Jeep!
