let's talk batteries

so I think it's time for a new battery. I don't drive my 2000 Sport except for on the weekends as it stays in the garage down at the beach. I noticed the past couple of times that it doesn't just crank right up. It starts but seems that the battery is getting weak. Its several years old (can't even remember exactly when I replaced it last). New batteries seem to range broadly in price point so just curious as to which brand batteries are 'the best'. thanks-

Odyssey 34/78 PC1500DT. It's the same as the Sears Diehard Platinum which I can't seem to find anywhere anymore, pretty sure they were discontinued. The Sears Diehard Platinum is the same as the Odyssey PC1500DT as they're all made by Odyssey, so that is what I would go with.

I am sure you will get more expensive recommendations, but Costco carries Interstate and those can be had for around $80.

Odyssey PC1500 is not likely to be surpassed, the Bosch Platinum is right up there. Both of those have the more rugged and dependable AGM construction.

If you go offroad, I would definitely stick with an AGM type battery. Conventional 'wet' batteries don't do well on offroad trails, they're not made as rugged as an AGM batteries are. The most common problem with conventional batteries when used offroad are that a bad bump/jolt will break a lead plate off in one of the six cells and short that cell out.
