Lift height?

All, I am really confused here on my lift height. PO stated it was 6" lift. I measured the springs and they indicate a lift is 4 inches. Fronts being 16" and rear 12". I measured again this morning to verify, and there is no body lift.

Member selling TJ here: https://wranglertjforum.com/threads/2000-jeep-tj-10-499.17956/ states they have a 6" lift sitting on 35's, and the measurement is 32" from ground to bottom of door. Mine measures out to 31.5", difference could be many things, including tire wear.

So what am I missing here?

There are so many factors at play here. Tire pressure, accurate measurements, tire wear, spring sag, etc. If you measure the springs and have a 4" lift, you have a 4" lift. For comparison, my TJ with 4.25" of total lift and brand new 35's sits at 22" frame height and 34" to the bottom of the door.

The springs in your Jeep are providing 4" of lift. It is what it is.

That TJ in the photo certainly appears to have no more than 4" of suspension lift.

They are most likely just repeating the numbers printed on the box the kit came in.

A 6" lift is not 6" any more than a 33" tire is 33". Even a 2x4 is not really 2" x 4".

Everything is nominal. There may be a 4" lift which actually lifts the TJ 4" but it'll be rare. The numbers on the box are marketing, not engineering.

If these numbers are static, uncompressed, the actual differences installed will be proportionally less........ if all else is equal.

Those numbers are intended for a TJ parked in the driveway. And they are only good enough to give us something to talk about. They ignore the advertising and only describe what is happening right in front of you.

There comes a point where an X" lift doesn't mean anything anymore when making comparisons and you need to start focusing on frame heights, belly heights, hub heights, suspension travels, etc. For example, the rear on mine is has a 4" lift as described by the chart. But it won't look like other TJ's with a 4" lift. Too much has been changed, cut and moved to meaningfully translate that single measurement over to another build.
