Not trying to be a jagoff. I've literally torn a sidewall on trail and stood back and WTF'd trying to use a bottle jack.

EDIT: Note Tractor Supply sells the Power Mountain High Boy that is pretty much identical for just over a hundred bucks.

I'm a big fan of the TJ OEM screw jack. I even made an adapter for my impact gun after watching @hosejockey61 spin one up.

I recently had to purchase a new PCM from Wranglerfix and Mark advised me to never use jumper cables that it could fry the PCM.

I don't use an impact. I use a drill on the low setting.

Any suggestions on a tree saver strap or any 3 or 4 inch strap? I agree the tire inflation/deflation, jumper cables, and lug wrench but they are pretty handy when needed. Been thinking about a jump box just never charged when you need it. One of those things people tend to forget. I like the idea of a high lift hydraulic jack just not a fan of where I'd stow it. Wish they made a way to stow them on the back bumper like some kind of weatherproof box.

Harbor Freight makes a good tree strap.

If you're carrying a hi-lift jack add a small spray can of WD-40.

Add a couple of cheap Amazon sourced winch rings. Good for redirects and 2 and even three way pulls. (Ah I see the snatch block! I'd still suggest a few more rings.)

I'd suggest a battery powered impact gun or a breaker bar and sockets over the four way lug wrench.

P.S. Does your winch have a remote?

I carry the Harbor Freight Badlands tree strap, used it when we wheeled Coalmont last time. Worked great and one of Blaines soft shackles for the winch pull.

I’ve gotten out of more situations with a shovel than any other recovery device. My biggest issue has been sand. When I do bog down I stop before I hit the frame and just dig a ramp to drive out. My tow straps/rope have gotten other people out of a jam never for me in 35 yrs of wheeling.

A shovel and common sense goes a long ways. Here in the sandy washes folks carry plywood scraps too although not a lot of room in a TJ for plywood.

Terrain my buddy and I go with our TJs as strictly mountainous trails. Aside from winches, straps, kinetic ropes, soft shackles, straps, etc, we both have Hi-Lifts mounted but after watching Johnson Valley Hammers racing action in January 2026 where a Can-Am Maverick R stopped to change a flat with the co-driver using one of these linked screw jacks, I bought two on Amazon at $80 each with then current online promo code. Much higher lift than bottle jack and seems a "relatively" secure way to lift at the axle. AGM says use manual crank or battery drill motor only vs an impact (I carry both). Also Safety Seal string plug kit, Glue Tread patch kit and now Colby valve stems. I'd much rather have those and not need them. Oh, and I also carry Noco jump packs in each of my vehicles, as well as small shovel in my TJ and JK Rubicons.
