NP231J Chain Slack

Does these seem like too much chain slack? When pulled up it hits the shift fork tower, when pulled down it does not hit case. I looked up a few videos about chain slack, they said if the input shaft was locked in place and you can turn the front output 1/4 turn while in 4wd its too loose but I dont even get an 1/8th of a turn on output.

It's going to be loose without the other half of the case attached. You are most likely fine

I just bought a new chain and installed it and it has significantly less slack than yours.

Took a closer look and it was rubbing the fork. So got a new one ordered.

Bought as a core with no idea what its like on the inside for an LS swap project. Since I need an SYE, why not rebuild a TC for the project.
