Get this .. 2001 XJ with 59k miles! Way, way too expensive at $16.5k asking price but man what a time capsule. I saved the photos so that the XJ fans amongst us all can drool at them. I wish I could buy an SUV like this today.

Just curious, what is a real world value one of you XJ experts would pay for this one?

The prices on these LJ Rubicons and Rubiharas are disgusting. $25k plus is just assinine considering you can get an LJ for $10k and then have so much free cash to beef it up with new parts.

Wow, look at that frame! Worth the money IMHO. I wouldn’t buy it, but it’s a damn clean example of a well kept LJ.

Wow- so that's what they look like without rust! I would buy it but it would be an absolute crime to bring it up to salt country!!

10k for basic solid TJ + 5-7.5k for Rubicon+ 5k for LJ + 5k for low mile (around 50) Must have 6 cylinder and clean title. I don't know how much after market really adds to resale. The guys that can really evaluate it would rather not have it and the guys that can't either don't have the money or know they don't know. Insane builds evaluated separately. Anyway, that's kind of my generalization of the market in SoCal since I've been studying it. Always exceptions and your mileage may vary. I wish Craig's list required them to mark it sold and the selling price.

I agree that it’s crazy, but it honestly is the going rate. LJs that is. TJs won’t bring that high of a tag, but the LJR was only made for 2 yrs and the Saharacon only made 1000 so it’s gonna cost an arm and a leg.

While I do agree with your points, given the option of an exact same LJ, but non-Rubicon, for a price of $11k, which are readily available, that would leave you with $16k of difference that could be used towards a complete suspension and axle overhaul with all brand new Currie parts, even with the rear RockJock Dana 60 you would still have cash left to spend.

I know which way I would go, and I just wonder who is buying these at that price point. I get it's the going rate, and it is what it is.

For me, I would opt for this one with less miles plus a hardtop, and to me is more accurately priced at $21.5k

A real time capsule and mint 1974 CJ5 with only 43k miles on it. It looks to be extremely maintained and well taken care of. Really collector quality. I don't think you can find a better one anywhere, though the price us high at 22k.

@Chris @Squatch you guys interested?

In reality, the coolness factor of a CJ is about all they have going for them IMO. I've had my fill of CJ carburetors, rough ride, noisy interiors, uncomfortable seats, leaky tops, and such. I'd much rather be driving a TJ.

Unless you can afford to store it and drive it once in a blue moon.
