Utah Official TJ Fest 2023 Thread

If you're going to Moab, perhaps drop the BLM a note about their planned closure of Gemini Bridges (etc) to motorized use... it's possible they will permanently close even more trails as requested by Grand County, and close all of the Hey Joe Canyon, Hell Roaring Canyon, Golden Spike, Gold Bar Rim, Rusty Nail, Day Canyon Point, Dead Man Point, Bull Canyon, Ten Mile Canyon, and 3D / Mashed Potatoes Jeep trails, plus the Dead Cow and Tubes motorcycle trails, plus parts of Where Eagles Dare, Buttes and Towers, Wipe Out Hill, and 7 Mile Rim.

The draft EA for the Labyrinth Rims / Gemini Bridges travel plan in Moab has just been published, kicking off a 30-day comment period that ends October 7.

Find more info here: https://www.blm.gov/press-release/b...ent-period-labyrinth-rimsgemini-bridges-draft

This is probably the most important travel management plan of the decade and will decide the fate of most of Moab's most famous Jeep trails.

It is crucial that you comment opposing alternatives B and C and supporting alternatives D or A (D being the most possible), and ask the BLM to keep all of the routes mentioned open instead of closing them. Please review the entire press release above for additional information.

COMMENTS ARE ONLY ACCEPTED UNTIL OCTOBER 7, 2022.

Written comments may be mailed, emailed, or submitted through ePlanning. Please reference “Labyrinth Rims Gemini Bridges Travel Management” when submitting comments via ePlanning and mail. https://eplanning.blm.gov/eplanning-ui/project/2001224/510

Just saw the Jeep Jamboree schedule for 2023... I see they have a "Moab Expedition" May 10-13, 2023.

So I need to put myself back to pending. The adapter I got to finish my build doesn't work. SO I'm waiting to hear today on how long the wait is on another adapter from another company today. It could be as long as 16 weeks which would be the end of March beginning of April. This build is killing me at this point, I kind of wish I had just thrown a AX-15 or NV3550 in it and been done with it ugh.

There’s always June

Details:
This will be the third annual Jeep Wrangler TJ Forum "TJ Fest". The plan is to get as many TJs as we can together for what will hopefully become a yearly wheeling trip. It should be noted that this is a wheeling trip, not an event.

In hindsight, the name "TJ Fest" is a bit misleading, as it suggests it is some sort of festival, which it's not. Food will not be provided, there will be no vendors, no designated trail leaders, etc.

There will be no set plans on what we are doing. It will be as simple as meeting up each morning (or getting people's phone numbers who you want to wheel with) and deciding what trail we want to do and who we want to wheel with.

There will be no oversight or instruction by myself or anyone else as to who goes where or who is doing what. One group may be doing more difficult trails, while another group will simply be doing more scenic trails. Certain groups will of course have requirements. For instance, a group that's picked a more difficult trail for the day will not be letting anyone tag along who doesn't have lockers and 35s or larger.

As long as each group has a trail leader who has the Gaia GPS app and the GPX maps from https://www.trailsoffroad.com, then there is no way to really get lost. A GMRS radio is highly, highly recommended, but a CB at the minimum. People without at least one of these communication options should not come, period. There is no excuse whatsoever for not having at least one of these communication options.

Please keep in mind that if you have attended Easter Jeep Safari or other similar events in the past, this is nothing like that whatsoever. It's literally a forum planned wheeling trip for TJ owners and enthusiasts, plain and simple.

Planned Dinner Event
@Apparition or @jjvw, is there going to be a dinner event?

Trip Requirements
  • GMRS radio, CB radio, or both (no exceptions to this)
  • Recovery points (front and rear tied into the frame)
  • Factory tow hooks are adequate
  • Wheel at your own pace (I have no doubt that any trail you'd want to run is likely on someone else's list as well)

Trip Rules
  • No alcohol in the vehicle
Alcohol will not be permitted in any vehicle that will be wheeling with us. If anyone is found drinking alcohol (including passengers), you will be removed from the group and not permitted to wheel with us for the remainder of the event.
  • No drug use
Marijuana and other drugs need to stay off the trail. If you want to do something in the privacy of your own room, so be it, but don't do it on the trail. There will be kids around, and I don't want anyone impaired.
  • Be courteous and polite
If you came with a bad attitude, you can just stay home.
  • Be patient
Not everyone is on the same level as wheeling, some are experts and others are here to learn.
  • Clean up after yourself!
You will be required to police your 100% of your own trash. If I see anyone throwing trash on the trail or making a mess and not cleaning it up, you'll be booted from this group / event.

GMRS & CB Channels
These are the official channels we will be using for our time at TJ Fest. You'll need a either a GMRS or CB ratio (preferably the former).

Should work now. I have to manually approve the registrations and sometimes I forget. I just went through and approved them all.

Technically people don't need to register on the site, I just wanted to do that so that others have a roster of who is actually planning on attending.

I wish I could go but I once again just can't afford such a trip. Maybe next year. Plus my TJ is still fairly stock, so Moab would break my Jeep lol

I missed this thread. I'm booked to be in Moab from April 29th - May 6th. We'll be staying at the condos at Rim Village.

Delays in my adapter means I'm going to be miss another TJ Fest. I swear if you want to diesel swap your TJ, reference for my build thread for what NOT to do. This project has made me understand why people abandon projects they start.

Marked it on the work calendar; April 28 to May 2. I'll probably book a hotel or do some camping.
