Oil pressure delay?

Guys,

On my '03 Rubi, notice oil pressure (stock gauge) is taking about 7-10 secs to show full pressure after start-up, cold or warm. No engine noises during this time, all sounds sweet. 80k miles. 5-30 oil, full.

Thoughts? Should I change sending unit?

Programmed to do that. The sensor signal goes directly to the PCM, which will then position the gauge needle where it has been programmed to do so. On startup it will slowly rise to a hair right of center and remain there regardless of rpms, temperature, etc. If the actual pressure drops below the predetermined danger point (around 3 psi I think), the PCM will drop the needle to the red and light up the Check Gauges light.

My '03 does exactly the same.

Earlier TJs reportedly had more realistic programming that better simulated a real gauge.

If your not hearing the lifters rattling during that delay you're getting oil on top.

It was a "real gauge". It doesn't have to be a mechanical gauge to be entirely/100% accurate.
