Out boarding shocks on stock height

Hello all
I have picked up a 98 TJ Sahara with a ford 8.8 in the rear. It’s come to me with one shock mount broken in the rear and after crawling around underneath it, realistically both should be redone.

It’s a bit of a step up, but getting the shocks out and 90 degrees seems ideal. Most builds I see already have some lift along with driveline modifications done.

I’m pretty happy with current ride height with 33s. Will need to regear.

I don’t see any downsides other than the time needed. I’m busting out the welder anyways, might as well do it right the first time?

Tube fenders upfront, not a ton of extra room in the back. I will measure springs after work, could be a small body lift maybe. My first jeep, Doesn’t sit super high still pretty easy to get in.

I bought a Jeep a few years ago with 33s and no lift. I was happy to make it back on the 2 hour drive home.
