PCM failing?

Oh - really? I knew about Module Gods - I thought they were the same company using two different names to appeal to different markets (standard "ECU Team" and racing/tuning "Module Gods"). That's how their sites are set up too. It's not that uncommon (two divisions of one company).

Are you sure about the names - aren't they both still open for business (you said "new name means no old problems"). It looks like they're both still up and in business.

No biggie - I don't have a dog in the fight - but I might have to buy a computer from them some day - what bad experiences did you have with ECU Team?

Who did you end up having a good experience with?

The module gods operation was spearheaded by the son of the owner of ECU Team. He is now doing business as Automodule gods. Anyway I’m not looking to air the dirty laundry, I just wanted to caution folks to be an educated consumer and look into who your buying from because it’s no small sum of money and the warranty is only as good as the company your dealing with. I have an FS1 module with 10k miles on it that I’ve been happy with and it was almost half the cost of the Module gods units that failed. I also have an FSEG module as a backup.

I'm running an FSEG unit now.....my second. My first FSEG unit failed at 2,200 miles. I bought the Wrangler Fix product as a backup.

I had the hard shift in my 2006 TJ, 4.0 auto trans. I bought the Wrangler Fix and it works. No problems of any kind since I installed it. It's been in for over 4 weeks now,and I've driven the Jeep over 500 miles. I highly recommend it. Call them and talk to Mark. He was most helpful. I received the new PCM in a bit less than a week. The price was reasonable and less than most of the other companies selling the PCMs. There was no core, just plug it in and drive.

I think you will be pleased and the hard shifts are over for you. Just as a second check, I did the fluid check on my trans and found I was a bit low. Engine has to be running to check the fluid level and you must use the ATF 4 fluid. I had to add a quart to mine. Now with the new PCM it drive just like it should.

Installed my @Wranglerfix PCM today. Only 15 miles on it so far but it’s shifting nice and smooth. No codes.
Thank you for letting us know, Tom!

I think you should drive down to South Florida and go swamping! That would cover heat, mileage and moisture concerns (and I know some good snakehead fishing spots!) 🎣

Keep us posted...

The P0344 won't go away but there is also still performance issues. Every dealer I've called here doesn't even know the PCM's have been discontinued so I'm cautious to take it there.
Hey, I hadn't checked out wranglerfix.com - I just opened their site and noticed a few things..

The "We aren’t a junk yard jumping, attitude giving ECM company!" quote from them probably refers to FS1.

The "There is no core return necessary as the PCMs ARE NOT REBUILDABLE!" quote confirms what that ECU Team guy was saying.

Interesting!

I was referring to company “X,” not anyone in particular. Almost everyone on this forum has had a bad experience with an ECM company but hopefully we can change that!

Thanks,

Mark

Looks like IM next in line for a wranglerfix PCM...I had the hard shift for awhile (thinking it was a jeep thing) but now Im getting the dreaded P-codes of death. P1684, P0714, P0884, P0218

Out of curiosity, anyone have success simply connecting an external 5V power supply to the PCM? Pretty sure my supply circuit to the oxygen sensors and camshaft circuit has failed.

If that doesn’t work, I’ll probably just go straight to a megasquirt. However, I’ll still need some form of factory PCM to at least monitor and report emissions compliance.
