Problem With Metalcloak Track Bar

I'm interested to see if these EMF joints hold up better than the original MC joints.

I bought a Johhny Joint to replace my MC heim joint but wasn't comfortable with that experiment and never installed it. So I have a MC track bar with a bad heim joint, a new replacement heim joint, and a JJ that could be swapped for the heim joint. I don't plan to use any of this stuff.

My (hopefully final) solution was to buy a Currie Rock Jock track bar and be done with it. I called and they agreed to swap out the axle-end JJ with one that works with a 9/16" bolt. It is installed and just clears everything with my 2" lift. If I didn't have adjustable CAs (savvy uppers, Currie lowers) shortened up to their minimum length, I'm pretty sure I would have clearance issues.

Why didn’t you install the JJ on the MC trackbar? Thinking of replacing the heim, and seems a JJ would be the best option.

Yes. But is it worth it?

This is a discussion back when I considered replacing the junk Metalcloak heim with a Johnny Joint. https://wranglertjforum.com/threads...spacers-and-range-of-motion.20230/post-328425

Ultimately, I decided the cost and effort wasn't worth making it work in a way that I would be happy about it. So I changed to the full Currie/RockJock track bar.

It would have been money spent better had I replaced the MC bar. After custom tweaking it to create proper clearance I was not looking to do so again with another bar. So I used the EMF joint. When the bushing side fails it will get a JJ down at the axle side. Then it will be a “CUSTOM” one of a kind. 😂

I actually bought a jj for that purpose but never installed it. The jj that directly replaces the heim joint is really small compared to what currie uses. And I don't think it provides the necessary range of motion up/down at the axle end.
