Propane and Propane Accessories

You take a performance hit if my generator experience carries over to the 4.0. Propane doesn't contain as much energy as gasoline. Does burn clean leaving the combustion chamber looking almost like new after more than 500 hours run time.

They use propane injection to boost power in diesel engines, but I don't think you can store enough of it in your vehicle to make it a viable alternative to gasoline.

Where I grew up in KS in the ‘80s, many farmers powered their work trucks with propane. They had huge tanks in the bed, and remote valve controls mounted under the dashboard to select between gasoline and propane sources.
There was a definite power difference between the two fuel sources, with propane falling significantly short of the power from gasoline. However, it was much more economical to run on propane day to day.
I always hated the smell of the propane exhaust, but imagine it would generate a serious feeling of nostalgia these days.

I have a inverter generator I converted to propane. Burning propane in an engine definitely has a unique odor compared to gasoline. It burns so clean that you can extend the oil changes if you want to.
