Question for those who disconnect their sway bar

Is there anything wrong with just disconnecting one side and tying it to itself?

As long as you disconnect the other side and tie it off to the frame somehow, you can tie off the other side to itself. Just be mindful that the whole sway bar would be held up by one anchor point.

I use a dog collar with snap closure. It works great

It depends. Mine flexed enough to flip the swaybar down and forward. My shocks had 10.75" of travel and longer than stock links. The link that was connected was pretty mangled. I was able to get it straightened enough for the ride home. The JKS links are far more substantial. I don't know how they would do if the bar went over center. I recommend disconnecting both.
