I say keep them and clean behind them every so often. Mine had never been removed in 20yrs and 135,000mi until one day I removed them to remove my flares for repainting. Here is a prime example of what is hiding behind those little suckers.

I’d take 35,000 over my current 137,726 any day. I guess the mileage just shows that it had a little road use over the years. Up until a few years ago it was a daily driver. I do my best to keep it as clean as possible, here are some photos of just how clean things are. Figured while I had the dash out to replace the heatercore I might as well clean everything in the tub. I’m a firm believer that clean vehicle just looks and rides that much better!

Don't forget about the little hole or entrance to the torque box area @ the front of the back tire.

By the way, I can't believe how incredibly clean that jeep is. Holy shyt, amazing!

I have already addressed the frame, drilled a 1/2” hole just in front of the lower control arm bracket. Though it shouldn’t be much of an issue considering the limited use.

I know it’s an old post but curious if you sprayed that rocker liner with a gun or out of a can? Looks great!

I use a can due to the limited quantity needed.
Here’s a can from Norton that a my supplier carries. I believe I used 3M’s version on the TJ. This one works well also.

I believe @fourpointzero was referring to this hole (red circle). OEM spec, it's covered with a thin, clear "tape". This area is not accessible anywhere else.

When I installed new rear flares, the tape fell off and I noticed inside was full of dirt and rust. I used a small piece of "Seal-tape" to cover the large hole prior to installing the new flares.

There's a dollop of body sealer at the yellow arrow. When it fails, this hidden area will fill up with junk. Check it and use a bit of body sealer help protect this area.

After cleaning and Krown treatment I will make an access hole thru the flare mounting flange and treat it again each year.
