Received wrong winch (Should I return it or convert it?)

Have them make it right...return shipping and all. It's on them, not you!
I'm kind of a softy, I would call them and ask them to send me the syn-rope (and accessories needed), I'm willing to respool. I'll send them the steel back on their dime. Way cheaper than them having to pay return shipping on a 60# winch!
Or just raise hell until they make it right...Everything has been a bit heated everywhere as of late, but this should totally be on them.
I'd be on the phone w/ them everyday until they fix it.
Edit: I pulled the link up and it said it was sold and shipped through Amazon, you should have free returns, esp if they fucked it up.
Don't back down.
I'm sure they'll make it right. I now just want to keep it and get a refund for the difference so that I can send TRE some more money.

I'm sure they'll make it right. . . .

I've received the best outcomes from Amazon by requesting a call from customer service, then when I get a live human on the phone politely requesting to "speak with someone located within the United States who speaks English as their primary language."

Things seem to go more smoothly after Tiffany or Chad in Seattle pick up the phone.

Rear of TRE standard fairlead showing radius and scribe mark for necessary clearance:

@Mr. Bills - Thanks for this. I took a look at my Shittybuilt bumper yesterday, and I definitely do not have the minimum 3/8 clearance on top and bottom for the fairlead, so I will be doing a little trimming this morning. Is the radius on the TRE the same on both sides? Looking at mine, there is definitely a difference on the front and back. Thinking maybe a different fairlead along with when I get their snatchblock.

The entry radius on that fairlead is too sharp. This is where most the import and cheap Hawse style fairleads miss.

Good catch, and good you fixed it. I wrote articles on many of the topics in this thread. This being one of the most important and I feel overlooked. It's always unfortunate to have a customer call me who just installed a new rope only for it to break on the first use. It's this 100% of the time.

As I was reading through, I was thinking of ways to keep the bickering going. I found a bomb of one that should be worth at least four more pages:

Why do tow trucks use steel cable instead of plastic? How about the big wrecker/recovery trucks?? (operative word:recovery)

I don't know pf anyone using plastic but we supply many towing companies, sanitation companies, Mining operations, and heavy rigging companies with synthetic rope products. This includes flat bed winches, roll-off truck winches, and all associated recovery gear. Check out our industrial section on the site and I can get you some soft-shackles for up to 88tons if you like?

Shoot me a message of what you are interested in and I'll get you taken care of. We do have a few items that do not get any further discounts.

Amazon made me a great deal and I'm happy to pay it forward. Just keep up the good work.
