Red fluid everywhere

You obviously have a major leak. And it is obviously near the radiator. And it obviously is transmission fluid. And you obviously had a shift problem. So to just add fluid makes no sense to me.
It appears to be the trans cooler lines at or near the radiator or trans cooler. That big of a leak should be easy to find once you get everything cleaned up.
Be sure to replace the acc drive belt if it got coated in oil too.

It's all oily now, definitely need a belt. Been working all day, will get pics asap

So start going higher until you noticed things aren't covered. Gravity is going to keeps things dripping in the same direction for the most part.

I wouldn't run the transmission if it's low. That's a good way to cause more damage than just a leak.

It looks like the leak is toward the front and hitting the fan which is causing it to go everywhere.

I don't recall telling him to run it. My point was that with a leak that big adding more fluid is pointless. Fix the leak. The add fluid. Why pour money into it that you know will come gushing out.
 
Good news is all that happened was a cut line by the fan! Replaced it today with same diameter fuel line. Added 1 1/2 qts and now shifting fine or at least as good as she was. Bad news is after running 15 minutes, carefully, the t fluid level is WAY past the Full mark so... I guess I get under it again & drain some. Next time I think I'll buy a pan with a drain, lol. Are you sure you checked the level correctly? Most auto trans want you to be in neutral, at idle to check trans fluid level. If you are in park it could read very different. I'm not an auto tranny guy so I don't know your exact tranny protocol, but they are all similar.

About to go run it for 15 minutes, come back & check it again in the garage which I know is level and in N which I didn't remember to do yesterday, thank you

I will. Every other AT I've had you check it in park, this is my first jeep and I never thought to read the DS other than level.
Edit: I just searched and it's different with the 42RLE which can be checked in neutral or park. Learn something new every day.

If I remember correctly, the 3 speed gets checked in neutral and the 4 speed can be either park or neutral.
