Breaks instead of brakes is bad, just as bad to me is "I just put new brakes and rotors on". No, brakes are what you were working on and the system has a variety of components of which, brakes are not one.
My grammer is not the best, but more bothersome to me is asking a question that you don't really want the answer to with the expectation that someone will know what you meant and give the answer to an unasked question.
I'll call someone at a company that I know and when a real person answers I'll ask if Mr. X is in the office and if so, may I speak with him?
Yes, may I tell him who is calling?
Yes, you may.

The more observant will usually figure it out and ask, "Who's calling?".
I give my name at that point.
I struggle with folks who try to tell a story about something that someone has done that involves several parties. The mixing of he, them, they, and lack of specificity when referring to the bits of the story quite often prompts me to stop them and ask- "Who is the "they" you are referring to?".
Are we going to stop and have lunch today? Yes we are.
I've also learned over the years that most folks cannot give direction, even to a simple location that they have driven by or been to many times. I live in a very convoluted area. My neighbor Pat has lived here 30 years. I'll ask him about something in the area and I doubt that even once he has been able to tell me where is talking about in a manner that narrows it down to less than 10 square miles.
I've surmised over the years that it has to do with how folks navigate. I use signs, street signs, and similar, the problem folks use landmarks. He will start talking to me about something in the valley and up over the hill and I'm sure it makes sense to him, he just hasn't a clue that his landmarks aren't mine.
