Relocating Spare Tire Inside for Fold Down Tailgate

shweeeeeeeeeet. granted if I didn't have a fractured leg at the moment would have put the tire back there myself to check.... so have been looking around net for answer lol.
actually found this thread while looking for alternatives to put 35 in tub at angle or similar under assumption it didnt fit flat in there. This really helps my long term plan that it does.

sorry for hijack of thread... one more quick question.... will 35 slide out with tailgate open or you have to lift it out over tub or tailgate? (or stand it up to roll out open tail to get it out)
No you have to put it on its tread and turn it a little to get it out. 95% of the time I run without a top so it's not a big deal. With a top on it can be done, just not as easy.

I want to put a rack above the tire..... plan is to run full time bikini top and tonneau cover. With rack above tonneau extended out beyond end of tub. Make over all length/look of jeep about like that of scrambler via Jerry cans below rack. Cans are what would give body line final look of scrambler. very Functional yet look ok maybe??

Look ok is in the eye of the beholder. I'm trying to build mine with function in mind. I have no need for jerry cans so that wouldn't work for me. I would think about what it is you are trying to accomplish and build based off that. Building something just because you can doesn't mean you should. I couldn't image that much stuff hanging off the back end of my Jeep. That was the whole point of me relocating my spare tire to the bed. It would get hung up on steep obstacles.

Get your purposes.... totally makes sense.
In my minds eye thinking Jerry can's bottom should sit higher than and no further out than former bottom of spare tire on tailgate .. and rack's base would be at most 1"? above tub... if hit that; she's... on the way over already lol. Thus, shouldn't hit on steep any more than spare on back.... maybe even less.
Won't be hard wheeling... been there.... done that... Was a reporter for a 4wd E-mag 20+years ago.
Rack is for storage of a portable diesel fuel processing unit when TJ towed behind poor man's Overland/BOV camper. Processor removed when at camp base... then rack holds scrap plastics collected to make fuel at camp base. Wash rinse repeat when needed. When towed scrap plastic orr??. is stored on rack above hood.
TJ has 5cyl MB diesel in it. Overland/Bov is LMTV w/CAT diesel. Habitat on back is ex-Ambulance
